Efficacy and Safety of Oral Midazolam Sedation Compared with its Combination with Hydroxyzine Use in Pediatric Dentistry: A Systematic Review

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of use midazolam as monotherapy, compared to associated hydroxyzine for minimum moderate sedation children in dental offices, using data obtained from clinical trials. Material Methods: A systematic review protocol was developed registered on PROSPERO (CR42020208633). An electronic search carried out Pubmed, Lilacs, Science Direct, Open Gray, Web Science, central Cochrane Library. No language restrictions were included. Clinical trials with aged 0-12 years, monotherapy verify effectiveness oral sedation. The quality studies individually assessed grouped RoB 2 (Revised risk-of-bias tool randomized trials) GRADE (Grading Recommendations Assessment, Development Evaluation) systems, respectively. Results: total 749 found. After analyzing inclusion removal duplicates, two analyzed evidence. Through this analysis, it possible very low level scientific evidence superiority combined offices. Conclusion: conflicting results limitations enabled establish that there is insufficient support these drugs combined. There only monotherapy.
