Effects of thermal expansion on Taylor dispersion-controlled diffusion flames

چکیده

A theoretical analysis is developed to investigate the effects of gas expansion due heat release on unsteady diffusion flames evolving in a pipe flow which mixing reactants controlled by Taylor's dispersion processes thereby extending previously theory based thermo-diffusive model. It first shown that at times larger than radial times, pressure gradient induced is, approximation, small comparison with prevailing driving flow, indicating corrections background velocity profile are small. The components along leading-order variables such as concentrations, temperature and density solved for Burke-Schumann flame. Due dependence effective Taylor coefficients density, quantitative sometimes qualitative departures predictions from model observed.

Taylor dispersion and thermal expansion effects on flame propagation in a narrow channel

We investigate the propagation of a premixed flame subject to thermal expansion through a narrow channel against a Poiseuille flow of large amplitude. This is the first study to consider the effect of a large-amplitude flow, characterised by a Péclet number of order one, Pe= O(1), on a variable-density premixed flame in the asymptotic limit of a narrow channel. It is also the first study on Tay...

Effects of Magnetic Fields on Diffusion Flames

Since the time of Faraday, several researchers have studied the effects of magnetic fields on flames. In his time, Faraday realized that the application of certain magnetic field configurations to a burning candle resulted an equatorial elongation of the combustion zone [1]. Recent researchers have confirmed what Faraday observed over a century earlier by showing that flames bent to escape magn...

Effects of Lewis Number on Temperatures of Spherical Diffusion Flames

Spherical diffusion flames supported on a porous sphere were studied numerically and experimentally. Experiments were performed in 2.2 s and 5.2 s microgravity facilities. Numerical results were obtained from a Chemkin-based program. The program simulates flow from a porous sphere into a quiescent environment, yields both steady-state and transient results, and accounts for optically thick gas-...

Laser-induced thermal grating effects in flames.

Light scattering from a laser-induced thermal grating produced in an atmospheric-pressure H(2)/O(2) flame is observed with a phase-matching geometry commonly used in resonant four-wave mixing and laser-induced grating spectroscopy. The presence of thermal gratings is confirmed in both the time and the frequency domains in two distinct experiments. Diluting the flame with helium decreases the th...
