Effects of Shading and Nitrogen Fertilizer on Growth and Physiology of Gandarusa (Justicia gendarussa Burm. F.)

Gandarusa (Justicia gendarussa Burm. F.) is a shrub used in herbal medicine, but knowledge of optimal cultivation methods for enhancing plant growth and metabolite yield limited. This research aimed to evaluate the effect shading nitrogen fertilizer on growth, photosynthetic parameters, total sugar content gandarusa. A split-plot experimental design was with (S) (0% (S0), 25% (S25), 50% (S50)) as main plots (N) (0 (N0), 90 (N90), 180 (N180), 270 (N270) kg ha-1) subplots. The results showed that combination S0 N270 most effective treatment indicated by highest values height number leaves branches. It also yielded high content, value range 72-76 mg g-1 wet weight. N0 produced rate (Pn) at 23.91 mol CO2 m-2 s-1, chlorophyll S25 N270. Based results, decreased Pn, production, gandarusa, while enhanced them. However, there no interaction between production except Pn.
