Effects of salinity on solid particle settling velocity in non-Newtonian Herschel–Bulkley fluids

Abstract Settling velocity or depositional is considered a key parameter to account for in the drilling technology of oil and gas wells as well hydrocarbon processing since an accurate estimation this allows transport cuttings efficiently, avoids non-productive time, helps avoid costly problems. Understanding settling fluid with high salinity will help better separation natural streams facilities. Although great amount effort was given rheology measurements power-law Bingham fluids, there are limited studies available literature Herschel–Bulkley (H–B) salinity. The present study analyzes non-Newtonian fluids with, without, Moreover, experiments have been conducted measure different diameters solid particles through various conditions. For analysis, it found that higher weight percentages NaCl lead low values shear stresses. As well, CaCl2 concentration result slight increase stresses per rate. On other hand, salt cause terminal velocity.
