Effects of rootstocks on leaf nutrient concentration of selected apple (Malus domestica L. Borkh) cultivars at Gircha, Southern Ethiopia

نویسندگان

چکیده

A superimposed experiment was conducted at Gircha, Chencha district, Southern Ethiopia to determine the effect of four rootstocks on leaf nutrient concentration five apple cultivars. The laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Data concentrations were collected and analyzed using SAS software. Results revealed that scion-rootstock interaction significantly (p<0.05) affected nutrients (nitrogen - N, phosphorus P, potassium -K, calcium- Ca magnesium Mg) contents. maximum N  (2.32%), P  (0.43%), K  (2.09%), (1.88%) Mg (0.45%) recorded for combination Local + Saturn, Scarlet, Begidu TT-Gala Mlerose respectively; while lowest values N (1.3%), P (0.12%), K (1.02%), (0.42%) (0.11%), Gircha Nela,  Mlerose, respectively. Under soil condition, Alkmen Scarlett O’Hara cultivars grafted Begidu, confirmed better acceptable concentration. Based TT-Gala, selected as best compatible most grafted. Key words: Apple, scion-rootstock, cultivar.

Effects of Apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) Diet on Rat Reproduction and Sex Ratio of Offsprings

Background & Aims: Apple (Malus domestica Borkh. from Rosaceae family), a rich source of phytoestrogenes has not been thoroughly tested for its reproductive effects. In this study, we investigated the effects of apple diet on rats' reproduction. Method: Nine groups of NMRI rats (n= 10 females + 2 males) with different apple diets (free- apple diet and apple diet in every other day and every tow...

Triterpenes and Phenolic Compounds in Apple Fruit (Malus domestica Borkh.)

Apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.), a popular and widely cultivated fruit world-wide, contains bioactive triterpenes and phenolic compounds with potentially valuable pharmacological functions. This thesis investigated the effects of pre-harvest and postharvest factors on concentrations of these bioactive compounds in apples. It also studied the effect of ozone treatment, before or during storage,...

Impacts of plant growth regulators and culture media on in vitro propagation of three apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) rootstocks

Apple is one of the most important temperate-zone fruit trees in the world. Micropropagation of apple scion and rootstocks is an important method of rapid production of healthy and disease-free plants. In this research, in vitro propagation of three apple roottocks including Azayesh-Esfahan, Morabbaee-Mashhad and M9 was investigated. Shoot proliferation carried out in two basal media (MS and WP...

Transcriptomic Signatures in Seeds of Apple (Malus domestica L. Borkh) during Fruitlet Abscission

Abscission is the regulated process of detachment of an organ from a plant. In apple the abscission of fruits occurs during their early development to control the fruit load depending on the nutritional state of the plant. In order to control production and obtain fruits with optimal market qualities, the horticultural procedure of thinning is performed to further reduce the number of fruitlets...

Looking for Genetic Diversity in Iranian Apple Cultivars (Malus × domestica Borkh.)

The cultivated apple (Malus domestica) is one of the most important fruit crops cultivated in different regions of the world including Iran. For production and breeding of high quality apple, the knowledge of genetic diversity of the cultivated apples  is  necessary. Therefore we studied genetic diversity of 25 genotypes by using ISSR molecular markers. In present study, ten ISSR primers produc...
