Effects of Question Characteristics on Item Nonresponse in Telephone and Web Survey Modes

Telephone surveys face more and criticism because of decreasing coverage increasing costs, the risk producing socially desirable answers. Consequently, survey administrators consider switching their to web mode, although mode is susceptible item nonresponse. Still, we do not know whether this true for all question types. In article, analyze what extent nonresponse depends on characteristics such as form or difficulty in telephone mode. We use data from an experiment which individuals randomly sampled a population register are experimentally assigned these two modes.
