Effects of PMSG and HCG on estradiol and progesterone levels from common palm civets (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus)

The common palm civets (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) belong to the family (Viverridae), carnivores order (Carnivora). This animal is widely distributed in South and Southeast Asia. Currently, are raised quite popular Vietnam. delay breeding for first time slow rut has reduced economic efficiency civet farming. study was carried out evaluate effectiveness of different doses hormones (PMSG, HCG) on sex hormonal changes civets. A total 54 female were used this experiment. PMSG/HCG intramuscularly 3 formulations (CT): CT1: 20 IU PMSG + 10 HCG; CT2: 30 15 CT3: 40 HCG. results showed that E2 level feces treatments began increase at day after injection peaked second day. P4 concentration experimental groups 3rd or 4th amounts group injected with CT3 significantly higher than CT1 CT2 (P <0.05). result provides reliable references subsequent studies use gonadotropin both exploit preserve ex-situ conservation rare wildlife.
