چکیده

The present study investigated the effects of plyometric jump training on hard and soft surfaces running economy (RE), maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), performance rate force development in orienteers. Nineteen orienteers (11 women 8 men, body mass 61.1 ± 7.3 kg, age 21 5.8 yrs) were randomly stratified based sex, age, VO2max RE to jumping (8 sessions over 4 weeks) either a or surface. RE, assessed treadmill outdoor on- off-trail loops. Moreover, ground reaction forces during one leg drop-jump test. intervention led an overall 2-7% improvement independent surface velocity assessed. These improvements not explained by drop tests, which remained unchanged following intervention. changes time-trial associated with RE. Plyometric improved no difference between was also speed Furthermore, after

Improvement in running economy after 6 weeks of plyometric training.

This study determined whether a 6-week regimen of plyometric training would improve running economy (i.e., the oxygen cost of submaximal running). Eighteen regular but not highly trained distance runners (age = 29 +/- 7 [mean +/- SD] years) were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. All subjects continued regular running training for 6 weeks; experimental subjects also did plyom...

Effects of strength training on running economy.

The objective of this study was to compare the effect of different strength training protocols added to endurance training on running economy (RE). Sixteen well-trained runners (27.4 +/- 4.4 years; 62.7 +/- 4.3 kg; 166.1 +/- 5.0 cm), were randomized into two groups: explosive strength training (EST) (n = 9) and heavy weight strength training (HWT) (n = 7) group. They performed the following tes...

Effects of plyometric training on soccer players

Plyometric training (PT) is a technique used to increase strength and explosiveness. It consists of physical exercises in which muscles exert maximum force at short intervals to increase dynamic performances. In such a training, muscles undergo a rapid elongation followed by an immediate shortening (stretch-shortening contraction), utilizing the elastic energy stored during the stretching phase...

Metastability in plyometric training on unstable surfaces: a pilot study

BACKGROUND In the past, plyometric training (PT) has been predominantly performed on stable surfaces. The purpose of this pilot study was to examine effects of a 7-week lower body PT on stable vs. unstable surfaces. This type of exercise condition may be denoted as metastable equilibrium. METHODS Thirty-three physically active male sport science students (age: 24.1 ± 3.8 years) were randomly ...
