Effects of ESP Courses on Chinese Health Vocational College Students' English Proficiency

چکیده
This study investigated the effects of ESP teaching medical English on proficiency Chinese major students. A content-based language instruction was given to experimental group while control taught basis traditional grammar-translation method. Both groups were freshmen majoring in clinical nursing and second semester their college learning.The findings showed that course significantly effective for students when it came improving proficiency. Compared with method, manifested a more significant advantage students’ listening speaking abilities. However, method proved be beneficial writing ability. Moreover, learning didn’t have effect reading performance comparison Additionally, survey results revealed developing professional communication skills, increasing opportunities, giving them confidence using English, providing better understanding unit topics. interview experienced some difficulty concerning discussions or impromptu speeches. In particular, low-level perceived uncomfortable required an unexpected amount preparation time. looks promising, but is necessary us apply different according levels skills they acquire.
