Optimal computation with non-unitary quantum walks
Quantum versions of random walks on the line and the cycle show a quadratic improvement over classical random walks in their spreading rates and mixing times respectively. Non-unitary quantum walks can provide a useful optimisation of these properties, producing a more uniform distribution on the line, and faster mixing times on the cycle. We investigate the interplay between quantum and random...
متن کاملNon Unitary Random Walks
Motivated by the recent refutation of information loss paradox in black hole by Hawking, we investigate the new concept of non unitary random walks. In a non unitary random walk, we consider that the state 0, called the black hole, has a probability weight that decays exponentially in e−λt for some λ > 0. This decaying probabilities affect the probability weight of the other states, so that the...
متن کاملRepeated Quantum Interactions and Unitary Random Walks
Among the discrete evolution equations describing a quantum system HS undergoing repeated quantum interactions with a chain of exterior systems, we study and characterize those which are directed by classical random variables in RN . The characterization we obtain is entirely algebraical in terms of the unitary operator driving the elementary interaction. We show that the solutions of these equ...
متن کاملUnitary equivalent classes of one-dimensional quantum walks
This study investigates unitary equivalent classes of one-dimensional quantum walks. We prove that one-dimensional quantum walks are unitary equivalent to quantum walks of Ambainis type and that translation-invariant one-dimensional quantum walks are Szegedy walks. We also present a necessary and sufficient condition for a onedimensional quantum walk to be a Szegedy walk.
متن کاملAsymmetries in symmetric quantum walks on two-dimensional networks
We study numerically the behavior of continuous-time quantum walks over networks which are topologically equivalent to square lattices. On short time scales, when placing the initial excitation at a corner of the network, we observe a fast, directed transport through the network to the opposite corner. This transport is not ballistic in nature, but rather produced by quantum mechanical interfer...
