Effects of Climate Change on Economic Growth: A Perspective of the Heterogeneous Climate Regions in Africa

Climate change is a negative global externality that threatens economic growth. In our study, we firstly reviewed the transmission mechanisms of climate affecting growth based on existing literature. Secondly, respectively used fixed effect method and panel vector autoregression to test short-run long-run effects 44 countries in six climatic zones Africa, from 2000 2019. The results showed temperature has inverted U-shaped tropical rainforest dry zones, but warm temperate humid regions. heterogeneity was industrial geographical perspectives. significant agricultural services output zones. Moreover, positively impacts coastal regions, no impact inland countries. Lastly, indicate subtropical regions show greater ability adapt change, while desert volatility resilience response change.
