Effectivity of Shark Cartilage (Carcharhinus sorrah) Ointment Extract on Growth of Lizard (Mabouya multifasciata kuhl) Regenerated Tail

Shark (Carcharhinus sorrah) is a fish whose entire endoskeleton composed of cartilage. Fish cartilage widely used for treatment because shark (SC) contains glucosamine (GS) and chondroitin sulfate (CS) compounds. This study aims to determine the benefits derived from SC extract on lizard tail regeneration. The was initiated by testing characteristics ointment which included tests spreadability, pH, viscosity adhesion ointment. effectiveness test done using 36 lizards that were autotomized divided into 4 groups. in form with concentrations 0% (control), 5%, 10%, 15% applied every morning evening. then kept 7; 18; 35 days. data physicochemical character analyzed one-way ANOVA significance level 5% (p<0.05) regeneration length two-way 5%. (p<0.05). result research showed there significant difference spread ointment, meanwhile other characters no difference. this not effective growth regenerate tails.
