EFFECTIVENESS OF PLATELET TRANSFUSION IN DENGUE PATIENTS IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL

Objective: Dengue has been emerging as rapidly spreading and dreaded mosquito-borne disease caused by the bite of Aedes Aegypti Mosquito. Clinical features are variable presents with fever or Hemorrhagic more severe shock syndrome. Thrombocytopenia is presenting feature in all cases some often bleeding. Platelet transfusions given patients haemorrhagic symptoms. While medical fraternity globally recognizes role platelet transfusion management hospitalized dengue exact indications situations which these to be transfused may vary. Since there inherent risk associated blood/blood-component, it imperative for each institution (or country) lay their own criteria blood components.  Conclusion: This suggests that occurs thrombocytopenia. High-risk having count<20,000/cumm require urgent Patients 21-40,000/cumm moderate only if they have any other superadded conditions.
