Effectiveness of Immature Asian Pear Extract on Pulmonary Injury Caused by Particulate Matter in Mice

چکیده

The use of natural products in developing respiratory-function-protective pharmaceuticals is actively progressing. However, this context, the improvement effects young Asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) extracts have not been evaluated yet. Thus, study investigated anti-inflammatory and lung damage immature extract (IAP; 400, 200, 100 mg/kg) using a particulate matter 2.5 μm (PM2.5)-induced sub-acute injury mouse model. experimental results were compared with dexamethasone (0.75 mg/kg), used as control drug. After two intranasal instillations PM2.5 ten doses IAP for eight days, changes macroscopic autopsy, leukocyte fractionation from bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, antioxidant defense system, histopathology, mRNA expression tissue confirmed. Stress-induced inflammatory through increased PM2.5-induced PI3K/Akt p38 MAPK was significantly suppressed via administration (400–100 mg/kg). Furthermore, promoted serous fluid production tissue, substance P ACh levels, decreased mucus-production-related MUC5AC MUC5B mRNA. Interestingly, observed showed dose-dependent manner without serious hepatotoxicity. indicate that proper oral could be helpful protecting against diseases, positioning potential candidate an alternative agent to safeguard respiratory system.

Ultrafine particulate matter exposure augments ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice.

Epidemiological studies have linked ambient particulate matter (PM) levels to an increased incidence of adverse cardiovascular events. Yet little is definitively known about the mechanisms accounting for the cardiovascular events associated with PM exposure. The goal of this study was to determine the effects of ultrafine (<0.1 microm) PM exposure on ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. ICR mice ...

Occurrence of Anthracnose on Fruits of Asian Pear Tree Caused by Colletotrichum acutatum

Anthracnose symptoms often occurred on fruits of Asian pear trees grown in Anseong, Naju, Seonghwan and Pyeongtaek in Korea during the harvesting period from 2000 to 2005. A total of 28 isolates of Colletotrichum sp. were obtained from the anthracnose symptoms. All the isolates were identified as Colletotrichum acutatum based on their morphological and cultural characteristics. Four isolates of...

Protein oxidation and degradation caused by particulate matter

Particulate matter (PM) modulates the expression of autophagy; however, the role of selective autophagy by PM remains unclear. The objective of this study was to determine the underlying mechanisms in protein oxidation and degradation caused by PM. Human epithelial A549 cells were exposed to diesel exhaust particles (DEPs), urban dust (UD), and carbon black (CB; control particles). Cell surviva...
