Effectiveness of Blinking Therapy in Dry Eye Disease: An Evidence-Based Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Dry eye disease (DED) is a group of tear film disturbances that are caused by decrease in production or instability. One the causes DED reduced secretion, which often happens visual display terminal (VDT) workers. Blinking therapy one therapies can be given to workers increase blink rate and reduce number incomplete blinks. Methods: Literature searching was done on database such as Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar. The keywords used literature search were dry disease, blinking therapy, ocular surface index. Three articles chosen critically appraised. Results: using conventional methods, animation software computer, specifically designed wink glass. showed statistically significant changes OSDI scores, with duration ranging from 20 minutes 4 weeks. Conclusion: treatment for improve symptoms measured OSDI.

The primary purpose of the eyelids is to ensure corneal integrity. An important component of this protective function is maintaining the corneal tear film. Blink characteristics can determine tear film stability. Increasing blink amplitude thickens the lipid layer that overlies the aqueous layer of the tear film. This thickening reduces evaporation of the aqueous layer. Because each blink refor...
متن کاملObjective Tinnitus Concomitant with Eye Blinking: A Case Report
Tinnitus is a common auditory phenomenon associated with many otological diseases, and is usually subjective. Objective tinnitus can be generated by para-auditory structures, usually derived from vascular or myogenic sources, or the eustachian tube. We present a rare case of intermittent unilateral tinnitus associated with eye blinking. Otoendoscopic examination showed that the external auditor...
متن کاملEffectiveness of Dry Eye Therapy Under Conditions of Environmental Stress
PURPOSE Dry eye is often characterized by increased tear evaporation due to poor tear film quality, especially of the lipid component of the tear film. Using an environmental chamber to induce environmental stress, this study compared the effect of three lubricant eye drops on various aspects of tear physiology in a crossover design (evaporation was the principal outcome measure). METHODS Thr...

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is characterized by intrusive thoughts or images (obsessions) and/or rigid rituals that may be driven by obsessions (compulsions). Controlled outcome studies investigating the efficacy of psychological treatments for OCD and exposure and response prevention (ERP) has been found to be the “treatment of choice” for OCD. Moreover, mindfulness-based approaches ha...
متن کاملDry Eye: an Inflammatory Ocular Disease
Keratoconjunctivitis sicca, or dry eye, is a common ocular disease prompting millions of individuals to seek ophthalmological care. Regardless of the underlying etiology, dry eye has been shown to be associated with abnormalities in the pre-corneal tear film and subsequent inflammatory changes in the entire ocular surface including the adnexa, conjunctiva and cornea. Since the recognition of th...
