Effective chiral theory of nucleon-nucleon scattering
We present a new chiral expansion scheme for the nucleon-nucleon scattering amplitude which preserves unitarity exactly. Our effective field theory builds on the power counting rules for 2-nucleon reducible diagrams proposed in [1]. We evaluate the leading order terms of the isospin one scattering amplitude and elaborate in detail on the S0 phase shift. Our chiral description of the S0phase shi...
متن کاملChiral effective field theory of ∆(1232) and Compton scattering
Chiral perturbation theory (χPT) is limited to a low-energy domain p ≪ Λ, where p is the momentum of the particles and Λ stands for all the heavy scales such as the masses of the “integrated out” degrees of freedom. In a theory without explicit ∆(1232) fields the limit is set by the excitation energy of the ∆-resonance: ∆ ≡ M∆ −MN ≈ 293 MeV. This limit is clearly seen in Compton scattering off ...
متن کاملElastic electron–deuteron scattering in chiral effective field theory
We calculate elastic electron–deuteron scattering in a chiral effective field theory approach for few–nucleon systems based on a modified Weinberg power counting. We construct the current operators and the deuteron wave function at next-to-leading order (NLO) simultaneously within a projection formalism. The leading order comprises the impulse approximation of photons coupling to point-like nuc...
متن کاملPi Pi scattering in an effective chiral
In this talk I summarize a recently proposed mechanism to understand ππ scattering to 1 GeV. The model is motivated by the 1/NC expansion to QCD, and includes a current algebra contact term and resonant pole exchanges. Chiral symmetry plays an important role in restricting the form of the interactions. The existence of a broad low energy scalar (σ) is indicated.
متن کاملBaryons in Chiral Effective Theory
We construct an SU(3)L×SU(3)R symmetric chiral effective model which includes parity pair baryon fields. It is assumed that the positive and negative parity baryons in the parity pair have opposite chiral transformation properties each other. Using this model, strong decays of the negative parity baryons are studied up to the order of one-loop corrections. The results agree qualitatively with e...
