Effect of Vegetable Oils Feed Additives on Endoparasites Associated with Dewormed Racing Horses

The effectiveness of commonly used parasiticides decreases due to the drug resistance developed by many organisms. Therefore, application feed additives possessing antiparasitic properties may be helpful in limiting burden parasites. aim this research was evaluate parasitological coefficients for endoparasites regularly dewormed Arabian horses and Thoroughbreds, fed on a basal diet oat muesli with vegetable oils and/or without vitamin E. observations revealed parasitic invasion 25 27 examined horses. most frequent both breeds were Strongylidae—accounting 86% Thoroughbreds 100% Strongyloididae observed 33% individuals representing while botflies found one horse Thoroughbred. Mean EPG strongylids strongyloidids higher (530 vs. 529 43 29, respectively), although differences not statistically significant. addition pure linseed oil significantly reduced number Strongylidae fecal samples. results indicate that properly selected plant obtained from arable crops numbers drug-resistant strongylids.
