Effect of the Openings on the Seismic Response of an Infilled Reinforced Concrete Structure

The seismic behavior of the infill masonry walls has a significant impact on global response reinforced concrete frame structures. One factor influencing its is existence openings in walls, such as doors and windows, which are crucial for performance. Although numerical simulation RC buildings with evolved significantly recent years terms micro- macro-modelling, most existing studies only related to without openings. Based this motivation, four main objectives were defined research work: (i) present simplified modeling approach calibration simulate central windows; (ii) evaluate an building; (iii) study irregular distribution (vertical in-plane) (iv) ratio (i.e., relative percentage between opening wall area) building structure. A four-story infilled was used case perform parametric analyses investigating walls’ in-plan) their ratio. results discussed natural frequencies vibration modes, initial lateral stiffness, maximum resistance.
