Effect of the Distance from Build Platform and Post-Heat Treatment of AlSi10Mg Alloy Manufactured by Single- and Multi-Laser Selective Laser Melting

Abstract In the present study, AlSi10Mg samples produced by selective laser melting (SLM) were studied. Samples machined from two types of bars obtained through different methods: either single (SL) or multiple (ML) machine setup. The built perpendicular to platform, which was pre-heated at 150 °C (working temperature), up a height 300 mm. effect distance platform on mechanical properties investigated tensile in as-built condition and after unconventional heat treatments (U-HT). Tensile strength changed 80 MPa along Z-axis (build direction) for SL case 100 ML samples. Vickers microhardness revealed an analogous gradient. This correlated gradient intra-granular precipitates' distribution Z-axis, as scanning electron microscopy (SEM). An treatment 175 6h slightly improves strength; higher temperature 200 225 same duration cause progressive decrease with increase elongation. amount size precipitates thickness eutectic Si change temperature, justifying behavior.
