Effect of soil temperature on growth and yield of sweet potato (<I>Ipomoea batatas</I> L.) under cool climate

چکیده

In cool climates, low temperature is critical for growth and yield of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.). Despite its negative effects, few studies have quantified the impact. We evaluated effects soil (Ts) on in from 2-year field trials northern Japan. Ts was controlled by three steps using plastic mulch at different colors (green, black white) with ranged 21~24°C especially early before surface covered plant canopy. Higher significantly increased vine elongation, branching, leaf appearance, magnitude higher decreased proceeding stages. Increasing chlorophyll content stomatal conductance. Across treatments years, aboveground biomass linearly positively correlated Ts, 58 g m-2 observed per 1°C increase Ts. However, final storage root fresh not affected high over years. Increased individual weight offset number. The present quantitative study tested Japan showed that, enhanced during did contribute to yields climates.

Effect of Incorporation of Wheat Residues to Soil on Physiological Traits and Canned Yield of Sweet Corn under Water Stress

A two-year field experiment (2015–2016) was conducted as a split plot design with four replications at School of Agriculture, Shiraz University, Iran to investigate the influence of water stress (supplying 50, 70, and 100% of water requirement) and wheat residue rates (0, 25, and 50%) incorporated with soil on physiological traits and canned yield of sweet corn (Zea mays L. V. Saccharata). Net ...

Effect of EM on the Growth and Yield of Sweet Potato in Wet and Dry Seasons

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is a tropical tuber crop, primarily cultivated by small landholders in Asia. The crop is a versatile component of the agricultural systems; it has the capacity to produce a significant quantity of carbohydrates, and the protein and vitamin content enhances its value. Thus, it is cultivated in both wet and dry seasons, although yields are generally lower under d...
