Effect of Skin Protectants on the Total Inward Leakage of N95 Respirators: Testing with an Advanced Static Headform

چکیده

The COVID-19 pandemic introduced considerable challenges for respiratory protection of different population groups. Disposable medical masks and NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) are typically their only defense against the virus. At same time, continuous wearing these devices, especially some FFR models cause damage to facial skin, such as skin irritation, swelling, scaling. Skin protectants becoming increasingly popular effective in providing a protective barrier that reduces direct contact between wearer’s face respirator. Recent pilot studies involving human subjects have examined effect on performance respirators/masks through fit testing, but findings heavily impacted by between-subject variability. This investigation deployed standardized protocol utilized NIOSH advanced static manikin headform connected Breathing Recording Simulation System (BRSS), producing predetermined breathing pattern. total inward leakage (TIL) was evaluated three models, five protectants, two flow rates. aerosol particle concentrations inside outside respirator were measured with NaCl serving challenge aerosol. TIL shown be significantly affected interaction protectant type, rate models. data suggest may influence disposable FFRs ways - either increasing or decreasing value relative one no applied. No negative effects observed tape- gel/cream-type when testing 3M 8210 1870+ FFRs; however, use group AOSafety 1050 compromise its quantified TIL.

Total inward leakage of nanoparticles through filtering facepiece respirators.

Nanoparticle (<100 nm size) exposure in workplaces is a major concern because of the potential impact on human health. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-approved particulate respirators are recommended for protection against nanoparticles based on their filtration efficiency at sealed conditions. Concerns have been raised on the lack of information for face seal leak...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
