Effect of Skew Angle on Bridge Superstructures

In this paper, the effect of skew angle on reinforced concrete bridge decks is presented by using grillage analogy. The actual deck system represented an equivalent longitudinal and transverse beams. A span 26m simply supported taken as case study to obtain values bending moment' s distribution versus length for one type skewness results are compared against moments right bridge. analysis were based (BS5400) dead live loads Structural Analysis program (SAP2000). provided useful information about variation shear forces with respect change in skewness. It concluded that deck, moment decreased, but torsional increased increasing angle. noticed maximum at 55o, 76% comparison zero On other hand increases same (55o) more than five times angles.
