Effect of Polyethylene (LDPE) Microplastic on Remediation of Cadmium Contaminated Soil by Solanum nigrum L.

چکیده
Solanum nigrum L. has a delightful prospect as hyperaccumulation plant for cadmium pollution remediation, and microplastic is new type of that received wide attention. In this study, the effects polyethylene microplastics (LDPE) (0.135, 0.27, 0.81 1.35 mg·kg-1) (20 on growth indexes soil physical chemical properties were investigated in 17-day microcosm experiment. The results showed single LDPE contamination trend low concentration promotion medium-high inhibited index physicochemical index, Cd was more stressful to plants than contamination, while could reduce effect promote uptake nutrients. These findings suggest high concentrations can inhibit alone or combination with Cd, rather reducing toxicity Cd.

Remediation of soil co-contaminated with pyrene and cadmium by growing maize (Zea mays L.)
Sites co-contaminated with organic and metal pollutants are common and considered to be a more complex problem as the two components often causes a synergistic effect on cytotoxicity. Phytoremediation has been proposed as a cost-effective technology for treating heavy metal or organic contamination and may be suitable for remediation of co-contaminated soil. This study investigated the concurre...

We evaluated the effects of soil washing with ferric chloride (FeCl3) on cadmium (Cd) concentrations in soil solutions and Cd absorption by two spinach cultivars in pot experiments. Soil samples were collected from washed and unwashed plots of rice paddy fields in Fukuoka and Toyama, Japan. Spinach pot cultivation was performed with the above mentioned soil under oxidative conditions. Before an...
متن کاملEnhanced electrokinetic remediation of cadmium contaminated soils by chelating agents
Electrokinetic soil remediation by electroosmosis and ionic migration is restricted to soluble substances. At a higher pH, the soil particles sorb more heavy metals than at a lower pH and the precipitation reactions of heavy metals are promoted. Both mechanisms make heavy metals immobile, rendering cleanup more difficult and electrokinetic extraction inefficient. In this study, the effectivenes...
متن کاملThe Effect of Soil Type on the Electrodialytic Remediation of Lead-Contaminated Soil
This work investigates the influence of soil type on electrodialytic remediation (EDR) of lead (Pb). In electrokinetic soil remediation, it is well known that pH is a key factor and that carbonate influences remediation efficiency negatively. This work provides results from laboratory-scale EDR experiments with ten representative industrially Pb-contaminated surface soils. Results indicate that...
