Effect of Plasto-Oil Blended with Diesel Fuel on the Performance and Emission Characteristics of Partly Premixed Charge Compression Ignition Engines with and without Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)

Municipal mixed plastic waste (MMPW) recycling is an innovative way to turn environmental into energy fuels. In the present study, a thermochemical process was applied depolymerize MMPW produce hydrocarbon fuels known as plasto-oil. The obtained plasto-oil blended with conventional diesel test performance of PCCI-mode single-cylinder, four-stroke, direct-injection engine. PCCI combustion mixture tested 15% and 30% fuel vapor ensure homogeneity without exhaust gas recirculation. modified engine findings were compared standard At higher loads, showed reduced emission carbon monoxide nitrogen oxides. While thermal braking efficiency marginally at all loads while using blends. results that 10% recirculation, increase in air mix NOx emissions; however, case smoke emissions, opposite trend observed. A blend plasto-oils also decreased CO unburned (HC) emissions loads. conclusion, it shown combined outperformed alone.
