چکیده

This study investigated the effect of oxides on removal As when present in simple mixtures with granular activated carbon (GAC) particles. The performance these was compared other reported GAC-based adsorbents. A standard curve for ultraviolet adsorption vs. concentration obtained using silver diethyldithiocarbamate (SDDC) method to evaluate various samples. preliminary carried out find optimal conditions experiments. For 50 mL samples 2.35 ppm As, values pH, time, and amount adsorbent were pH 7, 30 min, mg, respectively. ratio between well water this showed a superior capacity (1 g/L, 2.1 mg/g) similar adsorbents previously (12.5 1.0-1.4 mg/g). Among adsorbents, KOH-treated AC-Mn3O4 exhibited best an efficiency ~95%. oxide particles had synergistic GAC removal. primarily due change potential partially agglomerated nano Mn3O4 ACK surface. influence surface area not pronounced. All results explained terms microstructure, specific area, zeta potential. finding could be extended carbons (AC) from different sources.

Arsenic removal by iron-modified activated carbon.

Iron-impregnated activated carbons have been found to be very effective in arsenic removal. Oxyanionic arsenic species such as arsenate and arsenite adsorb at the iron oxyhydroxide surface by forming complexes with the surface sites. Our goal has been to load as much iron within the carbon pores as possible while also rendering as much of the iron to be available for sorbing arsenic. Surface ox...

Arsenic removal from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto iron oxide/activated carbon magnetic composite

In this work the adsorption features of activated carbon and the magnetic properties of iron oxides were combined in a composite to produce magnetic adsorbent. Batch experiments were conducted to study the adsorption behavior of arsenate onto the synthetic magnetic adsorbent. The effects of initial solution pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and co-existing anionic component on the adsorption o...

Preloading hydrous ferric oxide into granular activated carbon for arsenic removal.

Arsenic is of concern in water treatment because of its health effects. This research focused on incorporating hydrous ferric oxide (HFO) into granular activated carbon (GAC) for the purpose of arsenic removal. Iron was incorporated into GAC via incipient wetness impregnation and cured at temperatures ranging from 60 to 90 degrees C. X-ray diffractions and arsenic sorption as a function of pH w...

Effect of characteristics of activated carbon on removal of bromate

This study evaluates how the characteristics of activated carbon (AC) influence the adsorption–reduction of bromate (BrO3−) by performing inetic and isotherm tests. Experimental results reveal that both physical and chemical effects simultaneously affect the adsorption–reduction rocess. The wood-based carbons contained more mesopores than coconutand coal-based carbons, resulting in the adsorpti...
