Effect of nano-α-Al2O3 Particles on Mechanical Properties of Glass-Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Hybrid Composites

The present work deals with the mechanical properties of hybrid nanocomposites made epoxy/glass fibre dispersed different weight percentages nano-α-Al2O3 powder . nanoparticles were synthesized by a high energy ball milling technique (60 and 200 nm).. effect size content (wt%) on properties, such as tensile, flexural, interlaminar shear stress (ILSS) hardness was investigated. addition enhanced all measured parameters because their higher surface area interfacial polymer-metal interaction. nanoparticle-embedded laminates showed an improvement in flexural strength compared to laminate without nano-α-Al2O3. Among wt% varied sizes nano-α-Al2O3, highest tensile shown 0.5 200nm (167.80 N/m2). (378.39 N/m2) Vickers (86.72) observed for containing 1.5 60nm while ILSS (31.21 Ksi) This study that there interaction between nanoparticle polymer resin, which led increasing laminate. finding show diversifiying application these materials possible adding nano-alumina.
