چکیده

Crucial changes in urban climate can be witnessed due to rapid urbanisation of cities across the world. It is important find a balance between expansion and thermal environment quality guarantee sustainable development. Thus, it major research priority study heat island (UHI) various fields, i.e., change ecology, climatology, planning, mitigation management, geography, etc. The present highlighted interrelationship land surface temperature (LST) abundance impervious cover green Varanasi city Uttar Pradesh, India. For this purpose, we used GIS remote-sensing techniques. Landsat 8 images, land-use–land-cover pattern including urban/rural gradients, grid- metric-based multi-resolution techniques were for analysis. From study, was noticed that LST, density cover, correlated significantly, an gradient existed over entire city, depicting typical UHI profile. also concluded orientation, randomness, aggregation have strong correlation with LST. recommended that, when planning extension, spatial variation are designed properly ensure comfort all living beings as per ecological point view.

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature

The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...

Toronto's Urban Heat Island - Exploring the Relationship between Land Use and Surface Temperature

The urban heat island effect is linked to the built environment and threatens human health during extreme heat events. In this study, we analyzed whether characteristic land uses within an urban area are associated with higher or lower surface temperatures, and whether concentrations of ―hot‖ land uses exacerbate this relationship. Zonal statistics on a thermal remote sensing image for the City...

Developing an Index to Measure Urban Heat Island Effect Using Satellite Land Skin Temperature and Land Cover Observations

A new index of calculating the intensity of urban heat island effects (UHI) for a city using satellite skin temperature and land cover observations is recommended. UHI, the temperature difference between urban and rural regions, is traditionally identified from the 2-m surface air temperatures (i.e., the screen-level temperature T2m) measured at a pair of weather stations sited in urban and rur...

Impact of MODIS Quality Control on Temporally Aggregated Urban Surface Temperature and Long-Term Surface Urban Heat Island Intensity

Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) is a phenomenon of high spatial and temporal variability. However, studies that investigate urban land surface temperature (LST) observed in different seasons frequently utilize a single satellite measurement and do not incorporate temporal composites. Temporally aggregated data increase clear sky coverage, which is important in many aspects of urban climatology...

Surface Urban Heat Island Analysis of Shanghai (China) Based on the Change of Land Use and Land Cover

In this paper, we present surface urban heat island (SUHI) analysis of Shanghai (China) based on the change in land use and land cover using satellite Landsat images from 2002 to 2013. With the rapid development of urbanization, urban ecological and environmental issues have aroused widespread concern. The urban heat island (UHI) effect is a crucial problem, as its generation and evolution are ...
