EFFECT OF KITCHEN WASTE COMPOST ON TOMATO YIELD AND CARBON ACCUMULATION IN SOIL

Two years field study was conducted on the effect of kitchen waste compost tomato yield and carbon accumulation in soil at Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Jamalpur, Bangladesh under Old Brahmaputra Floodplain (AEZ 9) during rabi season 2020-2021 2021-2022. The objectives were to determine whether composted would increase organic levels yield. BARI tomato-21 utilized as test crop, experiment set up using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. There seven treatments comprising T1 = 100 % RDCF (control), T2=100 + Kitchen Waste Compost @ 2.5 t ha-1, T3 5 T4 85% T5 T6 =70% ha-1 T7 70% ha-1. Data revealed that, combined application chemical fertilizer increased production compared sole fertilizers. highest average fruit (68.46 ha-1) found treatment (100 ha-1). RDCF) yielded 55.82 tomatoes, indicating that plants could not receive enough nutrients from single fertilizer. On other hand, fertilizers reduced, gradually declined. (70 RD had lowest output, 52.73 performed better after second cycle finished terms total nutrient content post-harvest soil. In comparison previous treatments, this also accumulation. As result, it is practicable apply full dose compost, which will boost yields, bring about economic benefits prevent environmental contamination.
