Effect of glutathione on pre and post-freezing sperm quality of Indian red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus murghi)

چکیده

During cryopreservation sperm encounter oxidative stress due to higher production of ROS molecules and insufficient natural antioxidant defence system. Therefore, present study was designed identify the effects various glutathione (GSH) concentrations on Indian red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus murghi) quality fertility pre-freezing post-thaw incubation hours. Semen collected from eight cocks qualified semen ejaculates having motility >65% were pooled after initial evaluation. divided in four aliquots, diluted with extender (1:5) at 37 °C GSH 0 mM (control), 0.1 mM, 0.5 1.0 cryopreserved stored (−196 °C) liquid nitrogen. assessed post dilution, cooling, equilibration, freeze-thawing 0, 2 4 h °C. Sperm motility, plasma membrane integrity, viability, acrosome integrity mitochondrial function recorded highest (P < 0.05) post-dilution, incubation. Lipid peroxidation seminal lowest during stages post-thawing Moreover, activities (total potential free radical scavenging capacity) GSH. Fertility rates compared control. It is concluded that improves structural (sperm integrity), functional (motility, function) parameters through enriching ameliorating stress.

Tick fauna of Malaysian red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus) in Bangi, Malaysia.

AIM The red jungle fowl is generally considered as one of the endangered Asian wild Galleopheasants due to man-made encroachment of their habitats, coupled with the effect of disease and disease causing organisms like ticks and tick-borne infections. This study aimed to determine the tick fauna of the red jungle fowl and their predilection sites based on developmental stages. MATERIALS AND ME...

Red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus) as a model for studying the molecular mechanism of seasonal reproduction.

Photoperiodism is an adaptation mechanism that enables animals to predict seasonal changes in the environment. Japanese quail is the best model organism for studying photoperiodism. Although the recent availability of chicken genome sequences has permitted the expansion from single gene to genome-wide transcriptional analysis in this organism, the photoperiodic response of the domestic chicken ...

New Host Records of Parasites in the Malayan Red Jungle Fowl, Gallus gallus spadiceus

Thirty species of parasites were recovered from seven adult male Malayan red jungle fowls Gallus gallus spadiceus from Ulu Langat, Selangor, Malaysia. Fifteen species of the parasites are newly recorded for this host; they are Pseudolynchia canariensis, Eimeria sp., Trichomonas gallinarum, Ascaridia galli, Capillaria annulata, Capillaria contorta, Cardiofilaria nilesi, Dispharynx spiralis, Gong...

Plumage Color Allelism in the Red Jungle Fowl (Gallus Gallus) and Related Domestic Forms.

HE lack of an ancestral “standard of reference”, “normal” or “wild type” T for use in genetic studies of the domestic fowl has been of little concern to many poultry geneticists (for a recent discussion of this topic see JAAP and HOLLANDER 1954). In the field of plumage color inheritance, however, a standard of reference seems necessary in describing the action of mutant genes. What the standar...
