چکیده
We tested the effect of fasting on development juvenile freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare). The juveniles were subjected to different periods (0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 days fasting). Fish from all treatments fed for 30 after period. No difference (P > 0.05) was observed between final weight length. There a significant < in 12 liver intestine weight. These results may prove that force use energy reserves, these adaptations also represent saving strategy. fish showed vacuolization hepatocytes ones 0 3 0.05). show during lack feeding, (P. scalare) mobilizes stored liver. survival rate. However, increase number deaths eighth day indicate with more than could be fatal this species life stage. According our findings, it can assumed angelfishes have strategies (e.g. decrease weight) resist fasting.

Fecundity, growth, and survival of the angelfish Pterophyllum scalare (Perciformes: Cichlidae) under laboratory conditions.
The freshwater angelfishes (Pterophyllum) are South American cichlids that have become very popular among aquarists, yet scarce information on their culture and aquarium husbandry exists. We studied Pterophyllum scalare to analyze dietary effects on fecundity, growth, and survival of eggs and larvae during 135 days. Three diets were used: A) decapsulated cysts of Artemia, B) commercial dry fish...

This study investigated the effects of sudden weaning of angel fish larvae (Pteraphylum scalari) from Artemia nauplii to commercial larval feed. Four days post hatch (DPH) larvae were reared in four different weaning protocols (TR1-TR4) with triplicates in a complete randomize design. Larvae in TR1 and TR4 were exclusively fed Artemia nauplii and dry feed respectively. In TR2 and TR3, larvae we...

Macrophage aggregate (MA) morphometry and pigment composition are believed to be dependent on the species, age, and health status of the fish. The aim of this study was to characterize a "normal" morphometry baseline of spleen and kidney MAs in blue gourami Trichogaster trichopterus and freshwater angelfish Pterophyllum scalare. Three size-classes of clinically normal fish were analyzed. Blue g...

Cytogenetic studies were carried out on eighteen wild specimens of Pterophyllum scalare from Jari River, in Pará state, and the results were compared to literature. Mitotic chromosomes were obtained from kidney cells and the analysis was done using: C-banding, Ag-NOR staining, Chromomycin A3/DAPI sequential staining and fluorochrome in situ hybridization with human telomere probes. All individu...
متن کاملThe Role of Body Surface Area in Quantity Discrimination in Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)
Although some fish species have been shown to be able to discriminate between two groups (shoals) of conspecifics differing in the number of members, most studies have not controlled for continuous variables that covary with number. Previously, using angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) we started the systematic analysis of the potential influence of such continuous variables, and found that they p...
