Effect of Eosin Solution Exposed to Sunlight against Anopheles Mosquito Larvae

Mosquitoes are a menace for millions of people around the world, they vectors destructive microorganisms which cause diseases like Malaria, Dengue fever and Lymphatic filariasis, affecting in developing countries areas with tropical climates. Anopheles, predominant genus transmits malaria, World Health Organization have shown that 350,000 lives especially children pregnant women lost annually by it. The aim this study is to determine effect eosin solution exposed sunlight on larvae Anopheles mosquito. use control method was aid at eliminating larva stages mosquito life cycle. A total one hundred twenty (120) were harvested using dipper handle net from drainages Eagle Island Rivers State University both Port Harcourt. Five different concentrations Eosin solutions prepared volumes 1000 microlitre (µl), 800µl, 600µl, 400µl, 200µl after stock 1gram(g) 100ml control, physicochemical parameters determined Extech model DO700 measuring instrument. Twenty (20) larvae, carefully introduced into each concentrations, observed 24 hours (hrs) period six (6) days susceptibility. percent (100%) mortality recorded volume 1000µl 800µl. separate showed significant effects their P-value 0.017 P<0.05. result obtained were; pH 5.24, temperature 30.4oC, conductivity 168µS/cm, salinity 0.08%, dissolved solids 118 milligram per litre(mg/L) oxygen 6.5mg/L control. Changes occurred values before exposure all dilutions. results hrs, rate increased, indicating expose within 48 hrs. It may be concluded has provided some evidence larvicidal
