Effect of Eight Different Disinfection Methods on the Surface Roughness and Flexural Strength Properties of Acrylic Resins: In Vitro Study

Objective: The method used to clean and disinfect dentures can affect the surface properties flexural strength of dentures. purpose this study was evaluate effects eight different disinfection methods on roughness heat-polymerized acrylic resins. Material Methods: A total 108 resin blocks were divided into nine groups (n=12) according procedure: Group 1: distilled water (control group), 2: 100% white vinegar, 3: 50% 4: 2% glutaraldehyde, 5: 3% hydrogen peroxide, 6: 5% sodium hypochlorite, 7: 8: microwave, 9: ultraviolet (UV) light. resins examined by analyzing measurement using a profilometer values. Kolmogorov-Smirnov Levene tests control normal distribution data homogeneity variances, respectively. values analyzed one-way analysis variance post hoc Tukey's test. Results: There an increase in all except UV (p>0.05). Decreased found control, vinegar solution, Conclusion: Only sanitizer caused least negative effect among other terms strength.
