Effect of egg yolk-based extender and seminal plasma removal on sperm viability of cooled donkey semen

Developing effective cooled semen protocols is essential to increase pregnancy rates and reproductive efficiency in donkeys. This study aimed evaluate the effect on sperm kinetic parameters membrane integrity donkey diluted with defined milk proteins extender 1% or 2% of egg yolk removal seminal plasma. Twenty-four ejaculates from six jackasses were collected. Each ejaculate was divided into four aliquots that (EY1) (EY2) yolk. One sample each group centrifuged, plasma removed (CEY1, CEY2 groups, respectively), samples then refrigerated at 5 °C for 24 h. Fresh assessed motility, morphology, integrity. Total progressive parameters, live cells not statistically different when an supplemented Seminal does affect total motility parameters. However, decreased (P<0.05) extended removed. Membrane affected centrifuged samples. In conclusion, obtained results suggest there no difference kinetics added Equiplus(R) extender. Also, by centrifugation did have any beneficial semen.
