Effect of dietary protein level on nitrogen excretion in dry cows

چکیده
Nitrogen (N) utilisation in dairy cattle is generally low and thereby results potential downstream ammonia nitrous oxide emissions as well nitrate leaching. Despite this, only few studies have investigated N excretion dry cows. The objective of the present study was to examine effect protein level diet on cows subsequently develop a simple equation predict based nutrient intake parameters. In addition, aim investigate whether crude (CP) concentration sufficient fulfil requirements Twelve Danish Holstein were fed two total mixed ration (TMR) diets both containing grass-clover maize silage, but with different ratios rapeseed cake dried sugar beet pulp vary CP, 111 135 g/kg DM, respectively. Cows randomly allocated one dietary treatments 2 × Latin square design six replications early late period, lasting for weeks. periods, first eleven days used adaptation, while last three sampling recording. Feed water recorded daily, blood, faeces urine samples collected analysed N, nutrients other compounds. Faecal output not affected by increased CP level, whereas urinary diet, indicating that excess mainly excreted urine. Thus, appears be strongly correlated A DM seems meet cows, underpinning reducing manipulation. Using Lucas principle, equations predicting urine, respectively, established matter (DMI) intake, considered reliable proxies during period.

متن کاملResponses of Milk Urea Nitrogen Content to Dietary Rume Degradable Protein Level in Lactating Holstein Dairy Cows
Nine multiparous lactating cows averaging 171 days in milk were divided according to days in milk and milk production into three 3×3 Latin squares with three 3-week periods to investigate the effect of rumen degradable protein on milk urea nitrogen. Diets were formulated to provide 3 concentrations of dietary rumen degradable protein (9.8, 10.8, and 11.8% of dry matter), while rumen undegradabl...
متن کاملEvaluation of Urinary Nitrogen Excretion from Plasma Urea Nitrogen in Dry and Lactating Cows
Data of 42 balance measurements from dry and lactating Holstein cows and blood and urine samples from 24 Japanese Black cows were collected to evaluate the potential for predicting urinary nitrogen (N) excretion from plasma urea nitrogen (PUN). Similar positive correlations were obtained between N intake and apparent N absorption in dry and lactating cows. The regression equations of N intake o...

Effects of dietary protein level on growth performance and nitrogen excretion of dairy heifers
OBJECTIVE Protein supplementation is costly and can result in excess nitrogen (N) excretion. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of feeding different levels of dietary protein on average daily gain, body size, rumen fermentation, and nitrogen excretion of 8 to 10 month-old Holstein heifers. METHODS Thirty-six Holstein heifers were divided into 12 blocks according to age (2...
