Effect of Copper Addition on the Phase Composition and Microstructure Evolution of Fe-Based Amorphous Alloy Coatings Prepared by Laser Cladding

Laser clad coating’s susceptibility to cracking is extremely high due the brittleness of material itself and enormous residual stress caused by rapid heating cooling. In order relieve stress, a series Fe-based amorphous-Cu composite coatings were fabricated on 20 steel using laser processing. The effects copper addition phase composition microstructure evolution then investigated. as-prepared coatings, which are mainly composed amorphous, Cu, (Fe, Cr)23 (C, B)6 have network microstructure. A large amount spherical-shaped metal present in coating evenly dispersed within amorphous matrix. has little effect crystallisation alloys negligible solubility solid alloy. average hardness reduces considerably shows significant difference, improving distribution.
