Effect of Combined Oral Contraceptive Pill on Serum Bilirubin and Alkaline Phosphatase

Background: Combined oral contraceptive is the most known and popular method of contraception. The combined pill was first commercially marketed in 1960. Earlier investigators reported that early pills had many side effects. Despite modifications on OCPs terms content dosage to lessen their effects, newer contraceptives still have some hepatotoxic Aim Objectives: objective this study investigate effect low-dose OCP S. bilirubin ALP- one important liver enzymes.
 Materials Methods: This cross-sectional analytical conducted 184 healthy women aged 20-45. Among them, 92 were users, nonusers. BMI-matched non-OCP users recruited for comparison ALP. A systematic sampling technique applied select each respondent. Data collection commenced after obtaining ethical clearance from Ethical Committee informed consent respondents.
 Results: Results showed a significant decrease serum Alkaline phosphatase among (p=0.001), but ALP level progressively increased with duration use. Serum within normal range, levels slightly higher in. users' did not significantly increase use (P > 0.05). In summary, are associated decreased bilirubin.
 Conclusion: So regular monitoring should be done avoid unwanted complications.
