Effect of Brazing Filler Metals and Welding Parameters on Laser Welding-Brazing Joints of WC-Co to S1045

Laser welding-brazing was used to join cemented carbide WC-Co and steel dissimilar materials. In this study, high-speed welding adopted. The effect of parameters brazing filler metals on the macrostructure, elemental diffusion, micro hardness thermomechanical behavior analyzed using optical metallography, scanning electron microscopy, probe micro-analysis, test, finite element method (FEM) based thermo-elastic-plastic analysis. experimental results show that increasing laser power is helpful increase maximum speed. However, FEM also shows increased speed leads residual stress concentration, especial in vicinity jig. It still a challenge optimize for given metal. show: when pure copper, silver nickel (thickness less than 0.5 mm) as metal, combination, 1.2 kW at 0.1 m/s, complete penetration with good weld formation. Cu/Invar/Ni should 1.7 if we higher (0.1 m/s). Although trial high exhibits feasibility, as-welded joints have much more brittle risks due stresses.
