Effect of Acupressure on Blood Glucose Level in Diabetes Mellitus Patients: Meta-Analysis

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from abnormalities in insulin secretion that affect blood sugar levels. Chronic DM associated with long-term damage to several organs the body. One interventions can be given lower levels acupressure therapy. The purpose this study was determine effect therapy on patients diabetes mellitus. Subjects and Method: This systematic review meta-analysis PICO, P: mellitus patients, I: Acupressure, C: No acupressure, O: Blood process searching for articles done through database journals including: Pubmed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, Spinger Link, CNKI Hindawi. keywords used literature search were: “acupressure” AND “diabetes” “blood sugar” glucose” “standard controlled trial”, “acupressure diabetes”, “diabetes standardized randomized trial”. acupoint, placebo”, “diabetes”. included were full text trial design results reported size, mean standard deviations (SMD). Articles collected using PRISMA flow diagrams analyzed Review Manager 5.3 application. Results: A 9 reviewed came Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Egypt Iran sample size 451. showed able reduce SMD values. 0.56 units than no statistically significant significance value (SMD=-0.56; 95% CI= -0.76 -0.37; p<0.001).
