Ecosystem Services for Planning Post-Mining Landscapes Using the DPSIR Framework
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mining in general, and particularly mining for energy resources such as coal lignite, results massive impacts on the surrounding landscape ecosystems. Post-mining reclamation that takes account of disturbed ecosystem services requires a research approach links impact to functions service potentials. The method used this paper combines Driving Forces–Pressures–State–Impact–Response (DPSIR) framework ES cascade by complementing limitations each with strengths other. DPSIR is extended causal network multiple interconnected chains lignite impacts. presented supports identification indicators assessment, planning, monitoring post-mining coal/lignite landscapes. can also inform political administrative decisions identifying elements at risk being degraded from mining.

The EBM-DPSER Conceptual Model: Integrating Ecosystem Services into the DPSIR Framework
There is a pressing need to integrate biophysical and human dimensions science to better inform holistic ecosystem management supporting the transition from single species or single-sector management to multi-sector ecosystem-based management. Ecosystem-based management should focus upon ecosystem services, since they reflect societal goals, values, desires, and benefits. The inclusion of ecosy...
متن کاملA planning framework for post-disaster collective shelters
Background and objective: Accommodation of the victims is necessary immediately after the accident to maintain order and reduce mental, psychological and physical crises, as well as providing better services to the victims of the accident. The experience of the AQ-Qala flood and the temporary accommodation of the victims in sports venues has made the need for the design of a collective shelter ...
متن کاملUsing Participatory Scenario Planning to Identify Ecosystem Services in Changing Landscapes
There is a growing interest in assessing ecosystem services to improve ecosystem management in landscapes containing a mix of different ecosystems. While methodologies for assessing ecosystem services are constantly improving, only little attention has been given to the identification of which ecosystem services to assess. Service selection is mostly based on current state of the landscape alth...
متن کاملConservation Planning for Ecosystem Services
Despite increasing attention to the human dimension of conservation projects, a rigorous, systematic methodology for planning for ecosystem services has not been developed. This is in part because flows of ecosystem services remain poorly characterized at local-to-regional scales, and their protection has not generally been made a priority. We used a spatially explicit conservation planning fra...
