Economic exposure to regional value chain disruptions: evidence from Wuhan’s lockdown in China

Production fragmentation across multiple regions can result in a regional shock propagating along value chains to wider array of regions. We propose methodological framework measure the economic exposure chain disruptions due city lockdown during Covid-19. The index is evaluated by applying hypothetical extraction method regionally extended inter-country input–output incorporating China’s interregional table. Our methodology be adapted conduct disaster impact analyses at city, state and country levels. It provides tool for immediate assessment risks disruptions, enabling quick policy responses.
