Ecological risk assessment of heavy metals after dredging in Mogan Lake, Turkey

چکیده
The lake management strategy of sediment dredging (removal) is periodically undertaken in shallow, eutrophic Mogan Lake, an important recreation area. This study aims to use certain indices - enrichment index (EF), contamination/pollution (CF), degree contamination (Cd), pollution load (PLI), geoaccumulation (Igeo), potential ecological risk (Eri), integrated (PER), and mean probable effect concentration quotient (mPEC-Q) evaluate the state after dredging. With this mind, was completed, two stations littoral zone were selected. Station I located especially where it would be reached by wastewater from mineral processing facilities domestic areas; II, residential agricultural wastewater. Surface samples taken repeatedly May November 2020 using a grabber. According findings, a) Among heavy metals studied (Hg, As, Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni, Cu, Zn), Cd found have highest indices; b) (PLI) values (1.30-2.26) suggest metal sediment, (Igeo) show intensive Pb at both months; c) In terms significant level index; d) (PER) indicates that all present moderate levels. Ni As had negative biological effects. results indicate Dredging not very effective tool for reducing sediment; long as anthropogenic pollutants continue enter basin, levels should routinely monitored, particularly those with effects on sediment: As. It predicted findings will contribute sediment-focused monitoring efforts organizations local governments.

Ecological risk assessment of heavy metals from cement factory dust
Background: The release of metals from industrial factories is one of the most important sources of environmental pollution. The present study aimed to determine the concentration of heavy metals like cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), and lead (Pb) in dust around the cement factory. Methods: A total of 22 dust samples were collected from areas around the cement factory...
متن کاملMineralogical and ecological assessment of heavy metals in the surface sediment of Maharlou Lake, Shiraz, Iran
Maharlou Lake, as the largest water body neighboring to the metropolis of Shiraz, plays a significant role in adjusting the ecosystem of the region. The objective of this study was to evaluate mineralogy and heavy metals enrichment in the surface sediments of the Maharlou Lake. The result showed a decreasing trend of heavy metals concentrations in studied region surface sediments as follows: Sr...
متن کاملDistribution, sources and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu, China
The distribution, sources and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu were studied. Results showed that the measured heavy metals had varied spatial distribution patterns, indicating that they had complex origins and controlling factors. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that the total phosphorus and the loss on ignition were positively correlated with the mea...

متن کاملAssessment of the distribution, bioavailability and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in the coastal sediments of Qeshm Island (Hormozgan)
Sediment samples were collected from 8 sites in the northern areas of Qeshm Island, Iran to determine the total and partial concentrations of heavy metals including copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), cadmium (Cd), and Iron (Fe), in February 2016. A combination of nitric acid and perchloric acid was used to determine the total concentrations and sequential extraction method was used to analyze...
