چکیده
The Cenozoic strata of the Xining Basin, NE Tibet, have provided crucial records for understanding tectonic and palaeo-environmental evolution region. Yet, age lower part sedimentary stratigraphy and, consequently, early basin remain debated. Here, we present litho- magnetostratigraphy various Eocene sections throughout Basin independently constrained by U–Pb radiometric a carbonate bed. Our study extends dated down to 53.0 Ma (C24n.1r) reveals highly variable accumulation rates during ranging from 0.5 8 cm/ka. This is in stark contrast low but stable (2–3 cm/ka) observed overlying Palaeogene Neogene strata. Such pattern infill not characteristic flexural subsidence as previously proposed, rather supports an extensional origin with multiple depocentres, which subsequently coalesced into more slowly subsiding basin. Whether this extension was related far-field effects subducting Pacific Plate or India–Asia collision remains be confirmed future studies.

Magnetostratigraphy of Late Eocene - Early Oligocene Strata from the CRP-3 Core, Victoria Land Basin, Antarctica
The Cape Roberts Project was successfully completed in the austral spring of 1999 with drilling of the 939.42-m CRP-3 drillhole, located 2-km west of the CRP-2/2A drillhole. The CRP-3 core comprises a 790-m Cenozoic (glacio-) marine sequence separated from underlying Devonian basement rocks by a c. 30-mthick dolerite conglomerate of undetermined age. Here, we present the results of a palaeomagn...
متن کاملMagmatic and Tectonic Evolution of Southern Tibet and the Himalaya
The Himalaya-Tibetan orogen has become the paradigm for continental collision and is central to deciphering continental tectonics. Neogene extension in the orogen is not predicted by plate tectonic theory, and its significance is widely debated. In the Himalaya, north-south extension is restricted to the Southern Tibetan Detachment System (STDS), which juxtaposes the High Himalayan Crystalline ...

15 صفحه اولTectonic evolution of the early Mesozoic blueschist-bearing Qiangtang metamorphic belt, central Tibet
[1] A >500-km-long east-west trending metamorphic belt in the Qiangtang terrane of central Tibet consists of tectonic melange that occurs in the footwalls of Late Triassic–Early Jurassic domal low-angle normal faults. The melange is comprised of a strongly deformed matrix of metasedimentary and mafic schists that encloses lesser-deformed blocks of metabasites, Carboniferous–Triassic metasedimen...
متن کاملQuantitative analysis, basin evolution and paleoecology of Early Miocene ostracods in the southwest of Kerman, Iran
This paper focuses on the quantitative analyses of Early Miocene ostracods in south and north of the Sirjan area, southwest of Kerman. Detailed studies resulted in identification of 23 species of ostracoda. The coexisting benthic foraminifera and comparing the identified microfauna assemblages with previous studies confirms the Early Miocene age for the strata. The quantitative analysis show a ...
