Early Embryonic Light Detection Improves Survival
In the recent article by Tamai et al. (Current Biology 14, pp. R104-R105), there is a typographical error for the units of light intensity in the second paragraph. The actual intensity of white light used in these experiments should read 500 microWatts/cm 2 (500 Watts/cm 2), not 500 milliWatts/cm 2 (500 mWatts/cm 2).
متن کاملEarly Recurrence Improves Edge Detection
A biologically motivated computational model of early recurrence is proposed for edge detection. Studies of the primate vision suggested that visual features are transmitted in the two visual pathways with different speeds (with the dorsal pathway processing faster than that of the ventral pathway) and the presences of extensive recurrent connections across the two pathways. It is thus likely t...
متن کاملGallbladder Perforation: Early Diagnosis Improves Survival.
Dear Sir, We have read with interest the article “Diagnosis of gallbladder perforation—a puzzle!” by Cowksey SR et al. [1] While describing the clinical data of the 5 patients, the authors have not mentioned the physical findings and the clinical diagnosis in respect of these patients. Though the role of investigations like MR imaging, ERCP, cholescintigraphy, etc. has been mentioned by authors...
متن کاملChromosomal Aneuploidies and Early Embryonic Developmental Arrest
Background Selecting the best embryo for transfer, with the highest chance of achieving a vital pregnancy, is a major goal in current in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology. The high rate of embryonic developmental arrest during IVF treatment is one of the limitations in achieving this goal. Chromosomal abnormalities are possibly linked with chromosomal arrest and selection against abnormal fe...
متن کاملEarly embryonic survival in the pig: Can it be improved?
A major limitation for increasing litter size in swine is embryonic loss that occurs during the 2nd to 3rd wk of gestation. High ovulation rates of modern sows have more than supplied the potential number of embryos necessary to improve litter size. The current challenge is determining how early conceptus development affects the ability to maintain the viability through the remaining 90 d of ge...
