Early Carotid Endarterectomy for Symptomatic Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis in the Acute Ischemic Stroke

Objective: To research the results of microsurgical treatment symptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis by Carotid Endarterectomy in acute period a stroke that were performed Neurosurgery Department IMSP IMU. Materials and Methods: A retrospective data collection was conducted on all consecutive patients surgically treated for an extra-cranial (ICA) hemodynamic Emergency Medicine Institute,in Chisinau (Rebublic Moldova),between February 2019 March 2021.All undergoing ICA endarterectomy (SCS) within 48 hours 14 days after neurologic onset included present study.Outcomes evaluated prospective follow-up. Primary outcomes rate postoperative ipsilateral stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), peripheral nerve injury, hematoma operating area death.Secondary local systemic complications.The stratified according NIHSS score comorbidities 30 surgery,and multivariate analysis order to define any correlation between preoperative outcomes. Results: total 40 (10 %, n 4 bilateral 90%, 36 unilateral) underwent (CEA) hemodynamically significant stenosis. According inclusion criteria (22% women vs 78% men; median age 64 years, range: 54-76; 4, range 0-18) affected SCS enrolled study. Median delay surgery 6 (range: 2-14).During in-hospital post-operative combined death/stroke/MI 0%.In-hospital improved post-operatively more than 2 points (range 0-12) 45.7% cases.Microsurgical CEA is accompanied,in most cases regression neurological symptoms it not correlated with increased risk hemorrhagic transformation.No complications registered.The stratification status, sex, did show statistical relation neither at nor long term-follow up. Conclusion: In properly selected SCS, ischemic early can be without or worsening status comparison similar longer stroke.
