Early asymmetric growth of planetary stagnant lids

چکیده

Convection within planetary bodies is often modelled using a temperature-dependent rheology which, when cooled from the surface, naturally leads to formation of so-called stagnant lid at cold outer surface. However, for sufficiently large planets phase diagram describing partially molten system may depend significantly on pressure in addition temperature, leading significant variations solid fraction. The aggregate therefore exhibit dependence both temperature and pressure, hence marked depth thermal structure due convection. Here, we consider growth stability lid. We first characterise effect pressure- evolution symmetric, This analysis further suggests that lead an instability growing importantly, asymmetric growth. find most unstable mode longest wavelengths, discuss implications stagnant-lid convection surfaces bodies. In particular, possibility this has crustal dichotomy found Moon.

Unraveling Circumstellar Disks and Early Planetary Growth

The solar system formed 4.5–4.6 billion years ago (Patterson 1956) by collapse of a portion of a molecular cloud of gas and dust rather like the Eagle or Orion nebulae. Some of the star dust from the solar nebula has now been isolated from primitive meteorites. The isotopic compositions of many elements in these grains are vastly different from those of our solar system and provide fingerprints...

Experimental investigation of bubble growth and detachment in stagnant liquid column using image – based analysis

An experimental study has been carried out to characterize bubble formation, growth, and detachment mechanisms in a stagnant liquid column. Both bubble frequency and bubble detachment size were measured in different gas flow rates, injector diameters and orientations, submergence height, and liquid properties. Experiments were performed for air injection flow rate ranges between 200 mlph and 12...

Revealing the Nature of Asymmetric Planetary Nebulae through Abundance Analysis

The correlations between planetary nebula (PN) morphology and the nature of their progenitors are explored by examining homogeneous PN samples in the Galaxy and the Magellanic Clouds. We selected PNe with reliable abundances from spectral analysis, and whose morphology is known, and compared the abundances of the element at variance with stellar evolution with the final yields of Asymptotic Gia...

Meteorite Constraints on the Early Stages of Planetary Growth in the Inner Solar System

We present the results of a study of the delivery of the parent bodies of iron meteorites to the inner part of the asteroid belt through collision, accretion, and scattering of planetesimals, and the subsequent growth of chondritic asteroids at the early stage of planet growth. Our goal is to portray a comprehensive picture of the growth and scattering of meteorite parent bodies in the inner pa...

Asymmetric auxin response precedes asymmetric growth and differentiation of asymmetric leaf1 and asymmetric leaf2 Arabidopsis leaves.

We have analyzed the development of leaf shape and vascular pattern in leaves mutant for ASYMMETRIC LEAVES1 (AS1) or AS2 and compared the timing of developmental landmarks to cellular response to auxin, as measured by expression of the DR5:beta-glucuronidase (GUS) transgene and to cell division, as measured by expression of the cycB1:GUS transgene. We found that the earliest visible defect in b...
