Dynamic stretching–electroplating metal‐coated textile for a flexible and stretchable zinc–air battery

A metal electrode is a significant component of zinc–air battery (ZAB), but the material usually not elastic, which severely restricts application flexible and stretchable ZABs in field wearable electronic devices. Herein, we report metal-coated textile prepared by dynamic stretching–electroplating based on wavy spandex substrate. Benefiting from unique woven structure, shows high stretchability 100% stable conductivity. In situ scanning electron microscope observation during stretching showed that tensile strain mainly attributed to deformation microfiber network at bottom position wave structure. addition, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose–polyacrylic acid–potassium hydroxide composite hydrogel has been used as electrolyte. This excellent ionic conductivity, mechanical properties, water retention makes it suitable for semi-open system ZAB. Furthermore, sandwich-structure ZAB, assembled using above-mentioned electrodes electrolyte, operates stably even under rapid stretching/releasing cycle deformation.
