Dynamic Strength Characteristics of Cement-Improved Silty Clay under the Effect of Freeze-Thaw Cycles

In the seasonally frozen soil regions of northern China, silty clay is widely used as a subgrade bed filler in heavy-haul railway construction. this paper, influence freeze-thaw cycles on dynamic strength properties (strength parameters and critical stress) fillers before after cement improvement was investigated by series triaxial tests under different confining pressure conditions, test results were quantified to analyze effects improvement. The show that modification can significantly improve (dynamic strength, index, freezing thawing. cement-improved (CSC) improved 2.8 5.2 times compared clay, high level be maintained multiple cycles. cohesion increased 1.5 3 internal friction angle 4 times. attenuation rate stress CSC with number greater than plain filler, while relative lifting effect significant three cycles, maximum value reached at cycle three, increase 2.5 A new index for introduced, which provides useful reference reinforcement along China.
