Abstract When a wind turbine blade exposure to some degree of rainfall, water droplets in the atmosphere impact at high velocity will causes erosion damages leading edge. The have significant influence aerodynamic performance blade, and also cost power generation. In this paper, dynamics model droplet on is develops based SPH-FEM coupling method, where SPH used large deformation region fluid domain, FEM method small structure domain. Together with properties gelcoat material surface, effects varying velocities angles response are analysed through numerical simulation. results show that during event droplet, contact force history appears two peaks. Also forces strains decreases decreasing angle, total duration increasing angle. present study expected provide theoretical guidance for enhancing erosive capacity material.
