چکیده
<p>This contribution presents a concept to dynamic fracture with continuum-kinematics-based peridynamics. Continuum-kinematics-based peridynamics is geometrically exact formulation of peridynamics, which adds surface- or volume-based interactions the classical peridynamic bonds, thus capturing finite deformation kinematics correctly. The surfaces and volumes considered for these non-local are constructed using point families derived from material points' horizon. For fracture, bond-stretch damage approach not sufficient in Therefore it here extended by additional failure variables considering loss strength internal force densities. By numerical examples, shown that presented can correctly handle crack growth, impact damage, spontaneous initiation under loading conditions large deformations.</p>

Peridynamics, Fracture, and Nonlocal Continuum Models
Most physical processes are the result of collective interactions across disparate length and time scales. The dynamic fracture of brittle solids is a particularly interesting collective interaction connecting large and small length scales. With the application of enough stress or strain to a sample of brittle material, atomistic-scale bonds will eventually snap, leading to fracture of the macr...
متن کاملVisualization of fracture progression in peridynamics
We present a novel approach for the visualization of fracture processes in peridynamics simulations. In peridynamics simulation, materials are represented by material points linked with bonds, providing complex fracture behavior. Our approach first extracts the cracks from each time step by means of height ridge extraction. To avoid deterioration of the structures, we propose an approach to ext...
متن کاملModelling of Crack Growth Using a New Fracture Criteria Based Peridynamics
Peridynamics (PD) is a nonlocal continuum theory based on integro-differential equations without spatial derivatives. The elongation fracture criterion is implicitly incorporated in the PD theory, and fracture is a natural outcome of the simulation. On the other hand, a new fracture criterion based on the crack opening displacement combined with peridynamic (PD-COD) is proposed. When the relati...
متن کاملDoes the continuum theory of dynamic fracture work?
We investigate the validity of the linear elastic fracture mechanics approach to dynamic fracture. We first test the predictions in a lattice simulation, using a formula of Eshelby for the time-dependent stress intensity factor. Excellent agreement with the theory is found. We then use the same method to analyze the experiment of Sharon and Fineberg. The data here are not consistent with the th...
