Dual-energy index variation when evaluating the potential ferromagnetism of ex vivo bullets

چکیده
Background: An MRI is potentially hazardous for patients with retained ferromagnetic bullets. Recent studies have aimed to develop dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) as a screening tool recognising highly Inconsistent findings been ascribed inherent CT technology differences. Previous research demonstrated significant Hounsfield unit (HU) measurement variation among single-source machines. Objectives: This study investigated the theoretical index (DEI) between DECT machines when evaluating potential properties within same sample of ex vivo bullets and metal phantoms. Method: experimental was conducted on eight phantoms 10 unused individually positioned in Perspex head phantom scanned two Two senior radiology registrars independently recorded HU readings, DEI values were calculated. Statistical analysis performed using non-parametric methods paired data, namely Signed Rank Test. The based mean readings compared. Results: Inter- intra-reader agreement not statistically significant. had poor interscanner agreement, an overlap non-ferromagnetic ranges. good similar relationship. Conclusion: use negates previous assumption that variability exists different technologies while assessing attenuative Contribution: investigation even though may be variable, implementation equation translates this into comparable agreement.

Ex Vivo Comparison of the Discoloration Potential of Two Endodontic Sealers in Human Incisors
Background and Aim: Tooth discoloration induced by endodontic materials is a common finding which can impair the aesthetic outcome. The aim of this study was to compare the coronal discoloration induced by Well-Root ST and AH26 root canal sealers by using the Easyshade® colorimeter. Materials and Methods: Forty-five intact maxillary central incisors were involved in this experimental study. Th...
متن کاملComparison of Singh index accuracy and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry bone mineral density measurement for evaluating osteoporosis
Background: The Singh index is an inexpensive simple method to evaluate bone density, commonly used to assess osteoporosis is based on the radiological appearance of the trabecular bone structure of the proximal femur on a plain antero-posterior (AP) radiograph. The purpose of this study was to compare between Singh index and bone mineral density measurement using dual energy X-ray abs...
متن کاملAntifungal potential of tolnaftate against Candida albicans in the treatment of onychomycosis: development of nail lacquer and ex vivo characterization
Onychomycosis constitutes the most common fungal infection of nail affecting finger and toe nails as well. Antifungals found to be effective in the treatment of onychomycosis. However, transport of oral antifungal agents exhibits more toxicity and requires longer treatment period. Medicated nail lacquers proved to cause lesser toxicity and required shorter treatment period. It provides not only...
